I have recently heard so much about the Essence Beauty Blogger Secrets palette and I found myself very intrigued by their attempt at a multi-tasking palette. When I saw them in my Dischem store I spent ages checking out each palette and eventually decided on the Glow Must Go On palette. It’s an absolutely stunning palette consisting of two eye shadows, a highlighter and a trio of bronzer/highlighters.
To Buy or Not To Buy…
I absolutely love a good highlighter and this is the first highlighter that I’ve seen from Essence. When I swatched them in store I was immediately impressed. The colours are so wonderful and glowy but there’s no chunky glitter. They feel so luxuriously smooth and I just couldn’t resist. For just over R100 this palette was a steal.
Essence products are often a hit and miss for me. I remember discovering them when I was a teenager and I loved how affordable they were. I still browse their display EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I go to Dischem and I’m a huuuuge fan of their nail polishes and mascaras. Honestly, every one I have tried has been a hit with me. I’m sure these highlighters are gonna be added to my favourites list too!
In my opinion though Essence eye shadows always have me wanting more. They have the cutest palettes and some really gorgeous singles but I find the formula lacking. Sadly, I feel the eye shadows in the Glow Must Go On palette didn’t impress me. The Sandalwood and Cinnamon shades are colours I often use but I found these to be tricky. They aren’t very pigmented and I found them quite difficult to blend. I have a feeling these will go unused.
The Glowy Highlighters
The highlighter and the trio of bronzer/highlighter have really impressed me though! I’ve used them every day since I purchased the palette. I love that I can use them for either a very natural glowy look by using just the pink shade and the white highlighter or for a more dramatic bronzed look using the two strips of bronzer mixed together. The colours are so subtle but very build-able for a look as natural or dramatic as you like. I would highly recommend buying this palette for those three glorious strips. For just over a R100 it’s cheaper than buying a separate highlighter and bronzer and the quality is so beautiful.
